I just seem to be in the mood for writing letters lately.

Dear company that I ordered my digital camera from,

While it is very nice that you email me to inform me that the item that I have requested is still not in stock, it is kind of unnecessary to email me more than once a day about the progress of how you still do not have it in stock. I realized this from the first email that you sent me at approximately 10am. The subsequent emails at around 1pm, 3pm and 4pm were not necessary. In fact, you could stop your system from sending out automated emails daily too, maybe once every other day would be more efficient.

Sincerely,
Girl who doesn’t need a full inbox

  1. My camera isn’t going to be shipped for another week or two either. I sort of wish they’d update me more. I’ll trade with you. 😛

  2. Automated emails are mostly useless. I often get “Your item has shipped!” emails after I’ve already received and opened the package.

My personal favorite; I closed my account at TheKnot.com because they wouldn’t stop sending me lame emails about the lame crap they had for sale in their lame shop. I had to jump through a million hoops to get them to close my account… and they sent me an email expressing their regret that I’d CANCELED MY WEDDING.

Then, a few months later, on the arbitrary “wedding date” I’d selected because I didn’t have a real one picked out yet… they sent me an invite to TheNest.com, congratulating me on my wedding. Way to rub it in, guys.
