The family decided that the weather was just so nice today that they had to all go and take advantage of it. So they’re all currently hiking, and then it’s off for grocery shopping and they may or may not be home for dinner (and if it’s a ‘not’, could you please fend for yourself, Michelle? Even though there are no groceries in the fridge? It will potentially be chocolate ice cream and noodles – not together! – for dinner for me tonight). And I’m at home. Attempting to be productive. Have I been failing at productivity today? You be the judge!

So far today I have:

Do keep in mind that I’ve been up since 9am and it’s currently nearly 3pm, so I did all of that (points up) in about 6 or so hours. The things that took up the most amount of time would be working my biology project write-up and my online quiz (as I needed to do the readings and then hope that the server would be nice to me today and actually work).

I’ve started the application(s) process for applying for nursing programs for the August/September intake times. I’m applying to 4 different schools and 5 different programs (4 programs that will result in a Bachelors degree – Bachelors of Science in Nursing or Bachelors of Nursing – which is essentially a RN program; and 1 program that will result in a health care certification for LPN – Licensed Practical Nursing). The ranges in times for completion goes from 1, 2, 3 or 4 years. I do have my preference in the order of which the schools go (I’d like to complete a BScN/BSN in as little additional years to how much schooling I’ve done already as humanly possible). But the applications are pretty much all due in January, which is nice (except for one in February, and one doesn’t even mention any dates involving when the application deadline is – I’m waiting for an email). I’ve started collecting information, I do need to buy copies of my secondary and post-secondary transcripts (next week, when I’ve got the time) and I’ve asked people to be my references and write reference letters (L from volunteering was more than happy to agree to writing letters for me, yes!). Program applications and writing up admissions essays, along with my midterms and papers, will pretty much be consuming my time from now until… not quite sure when. When I’m done everything? Maybe…

Dane, yes the 2010 Olympic games are the winter ones (in Vancouver, BC, Canada). 2012 (summer) is in London, England. Since I’m in BC, we get a lot of news about the Olympics (probably more so than I ever realized would be related to the Olympics, but I’m sure if I had been in Beijing in 2008 or in London right now, I would probably be bombarded with a lot of media regarding the Olympics).

And internet hugs?! Thank you so very much, Caity!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful and productive weekend. Have a cup of tea (or coffee, if you’re weird and that’s your thing), relax, read journal articles from journals like Genetics & Development and give someone a hug.

  1. Wow you have been quite the busy little bee!
Good luck with the nursing applications! That sounds so exciting!
You’re welcome for the internet hugs. 🙂

  2. Love the new layout! The header image is uber awesome!

Wow…you are so much more productive than I am. It’s 7:45 p.m. (Sunday) and I still haven’t done any homework. 😀 I’m doing considerably better in school this year than last, though. I just need to manage my time better. 😛

I congratulate you on your productivity. You’re an inspiration for all us procrastinators.

  3. Congrats on getting so much done. I know Manga Club seems like ages ago but if you want a reference letter from that I can write you one.
