Significantly different

On Saturday May 10th, 2008, sometime between 12:00am-1:00am, I asked Clay out. Which shocked and surprised both him and myself. I first met him in the summer of 2006 when I was 16 and he was 22. When I asked him out, I was 18 and he was 24. If you do the math, it seems like he’s six years older than I am, which isn’t actually the case (he’s five years and seven months older, give or take a few days).

A hundred days later on Monday August 18th, 2008, we shared our first kiss which occurred in the first aid/storage room at work. Classy, right? It probably took a lot longer than how everyone else’s relationships took to get to the point of the first kiss, but we spent a lot of time between the initial asking out and the first kiss just getting to know one another better. And I guess both of us like what we’ve found out about each other since we did go a ninety-nine days with probably over a dozen arguments and not a single kiss.

At a hundred and twenty days, Sunday September 7th, 2008,  we went out on our fist date. We went out for dinner (I had key lime pie, he had burger and fries). We watched a movie (Wall-E) and in general just had fun. In a way, waiting that long for the date was probably worth it since we were able to get to know more about one another and just become more comfortable with each other. For more on the first date, click here.

He first met the majority of my friends (or the ones that I really call my friends) and my sister on Saturday November 8th, 2008 at my 19th birthday party. We talked, hugged, kissed. He stayed with me while I was emptying the contents of my stomach due to an adverse reaction to too much alcohol too fast (also, uncontrollable shaking due to Redbull, boo). I got picked up a lot and tickled because he likes hearing me squeak (apparently that’s cute, I don’t know) and making me squirm.

More relationship milestones will be recorded here as they happen.

The slightly less important information

Physical appearance: I have brown eyes and very-dark-brown/black hair is usually kept longer than shoulder-length. I’m 5′1″ and that means that I’m generally dwarfed by everyone that I know (friends, family, etc.). I’m not a whole lot taller than a lot of people that I know who are shorter than I am, but it does please me when I realize that I am taller than someone. I don’t like wearing heels often, because they’re not exactly comfortable, but will in order to make myself appear taller, even temporarily. I got my ears pierced (earlobes) for the first time on Sunday August 10th, 2008.

Legally speaking: At the time of writing, I can legally have sex (age of consent in Canada is 16) and vote in federal elections (18). I can also go into adult stores and buy sex toys and pornography and even star in my own pornography film. I can go into an adult store and buy the toys needed for a sex film and star in my own pornography film with the person who gives me the ballot for the federal election. How awesome is that? I can also legally vote in municipal or provincial elections (19), buy alcohol (19), buy cigarettes (19) or buy lottery tickets (19).

Technologically speaking: My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6000-series 15.4″ widescreen. I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 and ImageReady CS for photomanipulation and imagemapping, respectively. I use Notepad to code my layouts and I ‘fix’ them in Wordpress. I use LeechFTP for uploading files. My instant messaging program of choice is Windows Live Messenger (aka MSN). I use Mozilla Firefox for my internet web browser and I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my email client. My DAP (digital audio player) is a Creative Zen Vision: M 30gb (white).

I am an occupational hazard

Summer 2008: I spent three of my four months off from school writing technical manuals. I did all the research, the writing, the editing and the photography. I drove the guys at work insane, stole kisses and ate a lot of gummy candy and Skittles.

Summer 2007: I spent two months doing data entry, reception work and processing custom papers. I processed incoming and outgoing mail, fax a lot of things and in general put on a happy face and page people when required to. Spent a lot of time hanging around someone who turned out to be a complete pervert.

Summer 2006: I, according to an email that I sent a friend, spent a lot of time snapping metal things into plastic things. I still have no clue what those things are used for. I also put together a lot of shopping baskets and rang for help, a lot.
