As for non-school things, I had Clay over last night. He came over for dinner with my sisters and me, which went well. They think he’s nice, everyone was awkwardly quiet and shy. It was nice to have him over though! He’s been super busy since he started school (only three more weeks in his course for him!), and I’ve been super busy too (hello, nursing school). I loved getting to catch up with him as we don’t get to spend a lot of time with one another normally. It’s been getting better though, which has been fantastic. Lots of cuddling occurred, I got him all caught up on my dolls and bug happenings, he caught me up with school and work and other ‘fun’ things like that.
Up next for me is a lot of things. This upcoming week is going to be one of the busiest that I’ve had so far. Not only do I have the usual amounts of readings, I also have two midterms (Monday – Communications and Friday – Clinical Skills Lab), another presentation (Thursday – Hematology), clinical (Tuesday & Wednesday) and a paper endorsement to write (Thursday – shouldn’t be that difficult… I hope). Trying to keep my head above water, I’m really looking forward to this week being over though as the upcoming weekend is a long one! Canadian Thanksgiving is on Monday October 8th, something that I’m quite looking forward to. A four day week? Don’t mind if I do! Except for the fact that I receive my patient assignment on Mondays so I’ll still have research to do – but I won’t have to do readings for my Monday classes that week!
Lots to do this week, here’s to the upcoming weekend where I will hopefully not be spending every waking moment with my nose in a textbook!
]]>I hung out with my boyfriend Saturday night as well. I don’t think Clay’s been mentioned in a while here, but he’s alive, we’re together. And he finally had some time off from work so we spent some time together. It was really good, and I think we both really needed some restful time together. He showed me his nifty new desktop, we chatted about future things and whatnot and just spent time together – which was the best thing of all that happened this weekend. I can get absurdly jealous of friends who get to see their boyfriends on a more frequent basis, but Clay reminded me that the time we do get to spend together is precious and thus should be treated as such. Such a smart cookie I’m dating.
Sunday night I had gotten dressed up and went out with C and J to see a musical! We saw Mamma Mia! and had a blast. It was a great production and I always love seeing live theatre.
]]>

I woke up at sometime past 7am (but before 8am). And I totally thought that I was going to be able to stay up so I turned my alarm off. Stupid decision #1 for today. I had to be up, eaten breakfast and totally ready by 9am, when my friend C was going to pick me up. Umm… See, I woke up when my dad opened the room to my door and asked if I had plans to go anywhere today because I had a friend standing at the front door. Whoops…
So, half-asleep and not really making a great impression, I wander to the front door and inform C that I’ll be about 10 minutes. And then start the rushing. Change clothes, actually remember to put on socks (I forgot and had to go back to my room to get them), comb my hair, brush my teeth, grab money (for food) and filled my water bottle. I paused long enough to tell my parents that I was not going to be home for lunch and then they told me that they wanted me home for dinner.
I apologized (more than once…) to C for, erm, sleeping in. Heh, whoopsies? But we had an awesome time. We headed out and walked along the beach while we were trying to find a good seat for parade. We ducked into a coffee shop when we were first in search for food. And then this man walks into the (very crowded) store and sits down at an empty chair (it was ‘very crowded’ in terms of the line) and announced to the entire store that everyone looked like movie stars and that we should all spare a nickle to him. One of the people working there told him that he should leave. And then he went on about how he had nothing left to live for and that all of the people there had hundreds of nickles and could afford to give him some money. A woman offers him a quarter on the condition that he leaves and he takes it.
At that point, while coffee shop was giving us plenty of entertainment, it was rather crowded. So we took a short walk to a hot dog stand and both bought lunch there. There were also a lot of police blocking off a huge area. And it wasn’t for the parade – we later found out that they were blocking off the area because there was an unexploded firework and they needed to have an area of about 100 yards blocked off with police everywhere. We went on our merry way at that point to find someplace to sit and watch the parade. We did manage to find a fabulous spot that C spotted that was in the shade the entire time and we had loads of stuff being tossed at us from the people on the floats and the people in the parade that were dancing about. I’m so glad that I didn’t pull out my camera to take photos because a lot of people that were in parades had water guns and were spraying out into the crowds. I would have cried if my camera got water damage, so while I regret not getting some great photos, the water was just unpredictable. There were a few times that I got rained on and I had no clue where it was coming from. There was also this random parade spectator who had a large water gun and was spraying people that were in the parade, it was kind of odd though.
Overall, it was a wonderful time and I had a great time hanging out with C. Plus, I got some freebies as ‘loot’ from the parade, which was a nice little bonus.
Caity – Thanks for the link. I really want to try making that teasecake now! I think I’ll try blueberries instead (my freezer’s full of them right now).
I hope you all had a wonderful Sunday! Did you do anything exciting and fun?
]]>My friend’s birthday/sleepover was fun! We watched this action movie (Eagle Eye) which was actually quite good. Maybe I just like the whole car crash, plane crash, gunfire type of thing. In movies! Not in real life. Thank goodness…
Photos of my friend’s gifts are up on my crafting/writing website – Chelle-Chelle.com where they take up two entries. One is a hat that she probably won’t even consider wearing for more than a second until it gets remotely cold around here (hello autumn?). It has cooled down considerably yesterday and today. It’s gotten a lot cooler and I actually needed to sleep with a blanket yesterday. Granted, it was was a thin travel blanket, but it’s backed by something that’s a bit like fleece, so it was kept me moderately warm. I saw her friends that I rarely see, mostly because I attend a different university then all of them… So there was a lot of ‘let’s tell Michelle some school-related stories!’ moments, which was entertaining. I’d tell them about my school, they’d tell me about theirs. It all worked out quite nicely.
My new Blythe doll (Love Mission!) did arrive yesterday. My sister D called me while I was at work to tell me that she signed for my “stupidily expensive” doll. She put the package in my room so my dad wouldn’t see it and freak out over me spending (my own) money again. My dad’s really amused with Sophie though, he thinks that she’s really neat because of the changing eyes. My new doll is still in her box because I didn’t have the time to pull her out and savour the whole unboxing moment. Not today either, I don’t think. Maybe tomorrow, but definitely by Monday. I have decided to name her Belarus. I wrote about her arrival over at Little Miss Sophie.
I’m going to be hanging out with Clay later today, so that should be fun. I’m so tempted to call him up and be like “I’m bringing my dollies with me!”. But I’ve decided to not be completely doll crazy today (key word: completely). I have no clue what we’re doing today or where we’re going… I’m just waiting for him to wake up! He’s still on graveyard shift so I know he does technically need his sleep but… it really is too bad that he puts his phone on silent when he goes to bed, or else I’d call or text him until he wakes up (lovingly, of course).
Anyways… I’m going to go and probably do some crocheting. I’ll hopefully catch up with everyone’s blogs… eventually? I think the only way I’ll manage that is if everyone stops blogging for about a week or so, then I’d get all caught up.
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
]]>And now, suddenly, I have plans. Like actual plans. I’m kinda impressed (with the fact that I have actual plans). Check it out:
Friday – The day that my new doll should be arriving!*
Friday/Saturday – C’s birthday/sleepover party**
Saturday – Potentially volunteering***, date with Clay****
Sunday – Attending a parade with friends
Monday – Day of rest (it’s a long weekend because August 1 is BC Day), sleeping in* She was released by customs at ~8am and arrived at the postal sorting centre at about 10am today. And since parcels are driven around by trucks rather than delivered by the normal mail carriers – I’m hoping she arrives tomorrow! I even have a bunny-earred hat waiting for her! (Sophie gets one too, in a different colour.) I realize this isn’t really a “thing to do”, but I’m still super excited about her arrival!
** Chances of me writing anything tomorrow or Saturday is slim to none. I’ll try though! But doubt I’ll get any time to write, at least not on Friday.
*** Not sure yet. G said I didn’t have to go in, since I’m quite good with showing up regularly and I let them know whenever I don’t show up. She said she’d understand if I don’t show up, and she’ll just have to tell the charmers that I’m busy with another guy, hah.
**** Not sure yet. Depends on his work schedule. Boo.
More crafting is also in my schedule. As well as not doing a whole hell of a lot. I still need to wrap stuff tonight, for tomorrow. So I’m going to go off and do that. Maybe watch some tv, or just sit in front of a fan to cool down. It was 38 C today when I was leaving work. So hot… The nice thing about it being a long weekend is that more people will be taking the day off tomorrow (and Tuesday!). Everyone else that I share my general office space with is gone on vacation, so I’m going to get the entire space to myself. Which is rather nice, I’d love to have all that space to myself!
The downside is that I’m going to have to drive to Building B tomorrow. In a car that I’ve driven… twice so far? Yeah, that’s going to be swell. I’m concerned with the parking, but the driving should be okay. The times that I have driven that car, I stayed in my fairly well. I’m crossing my fingers for doing remotely well tomorrow in that car. Hopefully.
Questions:
But you can swap out the ‘may have’s with just ‘had’.
I’m not even quite sure why I did it. But… I did. And he was really, really upset with me, to say the least. And I felt horrible about it. However, I still ended up taking the bus-train-bus transit combination out to see him. It was a bit iffy at first, we stopped by McDonalds to get dinner – first time in many years getting food from a McDonalds. Then ended up going to his house where I said hi to his parents and we ate while watching tv for a bit. He offered his fries/I kinda stole half of his fries and… we made up. We played some video games, he tickled me many, many, many, many times, watched some stand-up comedy. I choked on Skittles (!!!), which caused him to stop paying attention to the video game and lose (whoopsies), but obviously, I survived that. We spent a lot of time talking and it was really nice, since we also haven’t really had a chance to talk at all lately at work. There’s just always been something coming up – like work… or meetings… or my computer decides to hate me and I have to redo more work… Or just something. But it was really nice because I got to spend a lot of alone time with him and it’s just one of the things that I don’t get out of a regular work day. I can have eye contact and maybe a hug or two and a little bit of conversation. But I don’t get things like kisses, or getting to play with his hair, or get picked up for hugs or anything like that. So it was nice.
Today was… Crap. Well, it started off as crap. I was playing on going shopping and buying a Blythe doll prior to volunteering…. But my father has poor time management skills, planning skills and restaurant-picking skills. Or he lacks those skills.
I volunteer at 1pm. I always do. It’s kind of… set into stone by now, for Sundays. So when he told me that we’d be back in the local area by 12. So I said, okay, I’d go out with the family. Back in the local area by 12, my foot! There was an hour plus wait at the restaurant for the table alone! By then it was noon, so I called volunteering and left a message for G letting her know that I wasn’t going to be showing up. So I was upset, because a) my parents were saying that we weren’t going to go out to the store where they had the Blythe dolls (which was my goal for the weekend!) and b) I wasn’t going to be able to make it back in time for volunteering. So… I pouted. Which wasn’t particularly mature, but meh. My sister D shopped for shoes (and failed) while J went and bought long skipping ropes (for double dutch). I was bitter and sarcastic. Then we went to the other mall and within five minutes, I was walking out of the store with a Blythe doll in a bag.
This is Sophie, she’s a Cappuccino Chat Blythe. There’s more photos over at my flickr photostream.
]]>Heather – I’m actually not sick… As far as I’m concerned. Lately it’s just a lot of breathing in dust and fibreglass at work (Yay for not realizing that there’s fibreglass in the air? Yeah, go me…), so I’ve been wrecking havoc on my respiratory tract that way. Hopefully no more though. And I’ve yoinked a few boxes of tissues from the supply closet… I went through about half a box on Friday alone (damn dust).
Caity – My sisters and I will be seeing a local production of a Shakespearean play (I can’t remember the title at the moment). It should be pretty cool, but we won’t be going until the end of August (boo) because we couldn’t get the date that we wanted until then.
So yesterday… I went out for lunch with my family, got a refill on my prescription, and got dropped off at the train station so I could head out and see the boyfriend (not that my family ever knows that I’m heading out to see him because, well, that’s a long story – although I always tell my sister [J] where I’m going, just in case and all that jazz). So I arrive at about 4… and he showed up a little bit after that. I met his parents, who were pretty cool and then we just spent most of the rest of the afternoon watching short videos and playing video games.
Knowing full well that I like Tetris (I play it on my sister’s DS whenever I have the chance), he pulls up Tetris on the Xbox 360. So I played that, getting used the controller and whatnot. Then there was Tetris on the NES, which was fun as well. Oh, and then we played a little bit of Rescue Rangers on the NES – I died fairly early on, mostly because I didn’t really completely fully understand what on earth I was doing. Yeah… But then we played Dr. Mario and that was fun, I really liked it since it was sort of like Tetris but a lot more amusing. He let me win the first round, just so I could get used to the controls. Then he won a round or two after that… Then I won a round (yay!). It’s a fun game, in case you’ve never played it before. Oh, and at some point while we were playing video games, I was sitting on the chair and he was sitting in front of me and I have no clue what on earth he did, but whatever it was, he ended up pulling me forward and our heads hit together and that really hurt for a moment before it subsided.
For dinner… We had sliced (lengthwise) mini cucumbers, fries (I hardly ever have fries, so I was quite happy with that since it basically acts as an occasional treat), chicken strips (which were good, but I was more enthralled with the fries – just because) and I had iced tea (he had something dark and carbonated). We had dinner fairly late, I didn’t realize how hungry I was until I started eating… And then I pretty much had my plate empty before he was halfway done his plate (I did, however, give him my last chicken strip as I was full at that point). It was like of like “Yeah, I could eat something…” and then I had looked down at my plate and realized how much was gone. And… he also fed me candy while I was over there (… well, more like I got up and went to where he had all his candy and just pulled one or two pieces out). It was basically an ‘eat whatever I would normally not eat at home’ sort of day. Which was fun.
So, didn’t spend too much time chatting with his parents, which helped with my nerves (which were kind of all over the plce). Spent oodles of time just talking and laughing with Clay, a little bit of time with his dog (who wasn’t jumpy or anything, thank goodness). And overall had a really great time. Especially playing video games (who would have thunk it?).
And now it’s time for lunch with the family and I’m having lobster, yes!
So how was your Saturday? And I hope your Sunday is stellar as well.
]]>Sunday was fairly good. I had volunteering from 1-3 where I interacted with my group of residents. Some of them were in little snitty moods, so that wasn’t very much fun. But most of them were fairly good. There was a new volunteer there who basically pissed them all off as she just made faces at them and bent down and put her face very close to theirs… But they do like me (yay) so that’s good.
I spent some time at K’s house yesterday between volunteering at date night with Clay. It involved me flopping on her bed while she was taking notes from her textbook, which is always fun. He came by a while later to pick me up. We ended up talking before deciding where we wanted to go. I’m incredibly indecisive and… we ended up eating at that place with the taxidermy on the walls. However, we were seated at a table and from where I was sitting, I could see a fireplace and snowshoes on the walls instead of deer heads and antler chandeliers, yay! So there was that, and once we finished eating (… Oh, in the restaurant, Clay was awesome and decided to point out the fact that behind me were two antler chandeliers… Bleh, taxidermy) and got our lollipops (… Seriously, this place gives out lollipops when the bill’s given and provides crayons for drawing on the paper on the table). Of course, I just had to be a clutz and when I was reaching for the orange one (the other was green, lemon/lime-ish flavoured), I dropped it on the ground. Go me!
We went to the movies and we watched Fighting (Channing Tatum, Terrance Howard). It was an okay movie… Had more ‘stuff’ happening than Adventureland, but it moved very slow at most points. It was also rather predictable at the ending, but that’s okay… It went okay. There were a lot of chatty people in the theatre. The movie has been out for a while, so we didn’t anticipate a lot of people, and there weren’t. The three boys sitting in front of us were chatty… So were some people somewhere behind us to the left. But the movie was okay… Definitely Wolverine next time though (it was playing too, but over 30min after Fighting started, or something like that).
So that was the movie. Then we just hung out and talked (… about work, I’m totally serious! And people at work). We listened to music (hello, mixed cds) and… Yeah. That’s about it.
And now it’s Monday (And it’s a holiday! Victoria Day!) so I finished up my super-awesome-super-secret crochet project. No photos yet, but here’s a hint. His name is “Mr Snuffles”. Any guesses as to what it is?
]]>Clay picked me up at the library. We went to the movie theatre to assess what was playing, decided to go eat dinner first (it was around 5-ish at this point). Actually, first we went shopping, then for dinner. We went to a restaurant that we’d gone to before – he ordered the exact same thing, we ordered the same drinks (iced tea), but I tried a different pasta dish (mmmm, seafood linguine!). Which was nice. Then we went back to the movie theatre (… yeah, we drive around a lot) and saw Adventureland. It has Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg and Ryan Reynolds. I’d heard about it, so I picked it. It was okay, but it just went so slooooooooooooooow. I found it amusing that some of the lines that Kristen Stewart has in Adventureland are identical to some lines that she has in Twilight and she sounds pretty much the exact same when she’s saying them.
Sometime after that, while we were just sitting around and talking, he mentioned that one of his friends was getting married, to his girlfriend. And I said that I kinda figured that, unless there was someone else that his friend was dating, and then Clay mentions that no, his friend only has that single girlfriend. Then I ask how many that he has and he goes ‘three or four’. I questioned him on that one, so he starts counting them out loud. There’s Michelle (yay for making the list?), ‘M’ (that’s how I sign notes and emails, for the most part), Little Miss Sunshine and Chelle-Chelle – which makes four. It’s probably a good thing that he could come up with four that were my name/nick names, or else I would have smacked him. We listened to music and he subjected me to his music tastes between my choices. I picked a song by The Goo Goo Dolls and he commented on how he has four on his mp3 player and he just happens to pick one of the three that he doesn’t like. Actually, now that I think of it, it might be the same four that I have on my mp3 player – only I don’t listen to Iris all that much. But it was fun, we spent a lot of time talking, which was nice since it’d been a long time since we’d seen each other.
So yesterday was fun. This morning, I headed out with the family for shopping. I bought some new pants and a new office-work-appropriate blouse (although, I suppose if I stay at Building A instead of moving to Building B, I can get away with jeans and a tee for the most part). Spent some time with the family and now I’ve secluded myself and tethered myself again to the laptop.
How has your weekend been so far?
]]>I’ve also been studying chemistry. Which has been going okay… I have six problem sets to do before my exam (plus the practice final!). I’m doing three tonight, three tomorrow (before 3pm) and then spending the rest of tomorrow studying for my psychology final (which is on Wednesday morning – 8:30am ftl…). And then Wednesday will be spent (after my final, of course) finishing up studying for my chemistry final, which will be on Thursday. And then I’ll be done! Yeah! I also need to make jewelry on Thursday as my sister needs a gift for her friend’s birthday present. Which means that I a) need to come up with something, b) need to make up packaging that has my name somewhere on it and c) need to photograph it for my own personal jewelry purposes. And completely update some pages on Chelle-Chelle.com. Oh, and I’ve been meaning to update Ames as well… New layout, new in character contest… Oh, the thought bunnies are running rampant in my head!
Then I have Friday where I’m going to start job searching (well, I’ve already started – but shall be intensifying the job search… Know anyone who’s hiring?) and I’m going to volunteering (missed last week because of my biology final). Plus I now have a green Post-It on my laptop telling me to ask L and/or J (the volunteering coordinators) if they’d mind being references. I’ll most likely ask L, I hardly ever see J around. But both of them seem to like me, so that’s okay. So that will be my week up until Friday… I also have to go to the library and return some books since they’ve been sitting in a neat pile in my room going “Michelle? Michelle…? You need to return us soon instead of just renewing us online… Michelle…? DAMN IT, WOMAN! TAKE US BACK TO THE LIBRARY!” (… I occasionally have an overactive imagination. And I’m not crazy. Honest…)
And then Saturday… I have excellent plans for Saturday. They involve seeing Clay! I have no clue what else that we’re doing though. But then we seem to be rather bad at making plans in advanced. A lot of them involve… meeting up and then taking half an hour deciding on where we’re going, what we’re going to do and oh hey, what do we want for dinner? It used to drive me insane the first… two times that we went out. Because I make plans for everything. Ask me what I’m going to take next year and the year after that and the year after that and I can tell you exactly what courses that I want to take, what schools I’m applying to and what I’m planning on having for lunch tomorrow. But I eventually decided that a little bit of spontaneity wasn’t going to kill me. (However, the jury is still out on how many minutes the spontaneity shortens my life by.) But we have plans! For Saturday! And there’s no way he can forget since one or both of us have mentioned it at least once every other day for the last… two weeks. Or so. Probably a little bit more than two weeks.
Anyways… It’s Monday! What did you do today that was awesome and deserving of mention (sort of)?
I paid for lunch when my sister, my dad and I went out for lunch today. My father has expensive tastes in restaurants, just have to mention.
