I’m now at 46,004 words and I have 3,996 words left to go. Hello lengthy goodbyes as people are leaving. Also, I put this page up: button bases. There’s fifty of them, I’ve been working on them on and off and have done like… 5-10 a day for the last little while, just as something to procrastinate with. All of them are 88×31. My next fifty will probably be another standard size. I love stock photography, vectors and textures so much.
Tomorrow (erm… later today), I’m going to be going out for breakfast/brunch/lunch with the family (for dim sum!) which I’m pleased about. Also, I need to buy index cards so I can make up my study cards for my biology classes. And tomorrow I’m going to be writing 3,996 words and just… finishing it.

+ 1 new completed review over at Imaginary Sunshine Reviews! Click here to read it.
There’s a review for A Hundred Million Suns by Snow Patrol up as well.
Also… I bought 300 index cards today… $1/100. It’s a good day? Yes, I think it is.

https://imaginarysunshine.com/index.php/2008/11/25/500/#commentsTue, 25 Nov 2008 19:36:53 +0000http://imaginarysunshine.com/?p=895This is my 500th blog entry since I opened IS.com on October 27th 2007! Yay! And thank you everyone for the 1,069 non-spam comments that I’ve gotten since this site opened.
Just to mention other things… Happy Tuesday! Last Tuesday of lectures of the term. Very excited. There’s a guest lecturer for my A&P class today. Not that I don’t like Dr. H, but a change would be nice once in a while. We’re getting a guest lecturer for that class on Thursday as well (Dr. H’s spouse) to learn about HIV and AIDS. Kind of nitty-gritty serious stuff that we can’t skip because he’s informed us that it’ll be on the final. Whoot? I’m not looking forward to that. But the lectures? Why not? Female reproductive system and STDs ftw.
I’m off to start noveling for about an hour so I hope I can keep up-to-date with my word count. We’ll see about it though. Right now I’m no longer interested in my story, mostly because I kind of want to kill the characters off one by one and have a super lengthy funeral. I shall see if I do that. I’m thinking that Ivan should just jump off of a cliff somewhere. Maybe. And land headfirst somewhere because he was a brilliant one who decided to jump like he’s diving off a diving board? Yum, greymatter.
I hope everyone is having an excellent day that doesn’t involve studying the axial and appendicular musles of various animals in drawings in attempts to pass the lab final that’s worth 20% of your final grade… I hope, anyways. This kind of really bites… Cross your fingers for me on Thursday!

https://imaginarysunshine.com/index.php/2008/11/24/never-again-this-week/
https://imaginarysunshine.com/index.php/2008/11/24/never-again-this-week/#commentsMon, 24 Nov 2008 18:48:55 +0000http://imaginarysunshine.com/?p=887I agreed to (because I’m absolutely crazy and off my rocker) an 8am meeting time with the absolutely insane morning people that make up the small group for an English lit assignment (worth like… 0.005% – literally) that we need to present (on Wednesday). So 8am.. Meaning that I got up at 5am. This morning. I went to bed at like.. midnight. Because I forgot, until midnight, that I needed to be up at 5am. I get there and guess what – half the group forgot. So I headed to the classroom where I have English, fully knowing that it’d be empty, and took a nap for an hour. I got woken up J poking me in the leg with his crutches. I say never again waking up at 5am this week because I’m fully aware that I will wake up at 5am in the coming weeks – hello finals? Oh crap.
The novel’s not going anywhere fast. May put it off except for writing madly between psychology and biology and then just getting it done sometime this week since the 30th is on Sunday (lovely…). But yeah, it’s going well. Ish. It’s not moving, my current point of view character is a miserable depressing little twit, but it’s going well-ish in a not-moving kind of way.
Anyways… Verity is back up. Go join, it has survived the Great Hacking of September 2008. My username there is Michelle (huh, fancy that) and it’d be awesome if you joined.

Went shopping, bought beads, got groceries and vegetable dip (works well with cooked, cold shrimp!). Two packages of beads, a dozen cans of Cream of Mushroom soup (yay), lots of vegetables and fruit for the next week. My sister and I went to the library and all that and then… Well, then… it all went downhill from there. I kept on bumping into things and there’s now a bruise on my calf (again…). Burned my hand a few times while cooking dinner and then I dropped the bowl (without food in it, thank goodness) onto the kitchen floor and it promptly broke into I believe it was seven large-ish pieces. You canĀ hop over to this site if you need the best lawyers to solve accident cases.
On the bright side, I am now at 42,000+ words out of 50,000. I’m only a few days ahead, but I want to reach 45,000 before I go to bed and then finish the damn thing tomorrow morning and then… study, study, study.
Got some new (non-Twilight-related) icons up (21 new ones!): click here.
How has everyone’s Saturday been going? I hope you’re all less accident prone than I am…

I kind of forgot about the Friday 5 and it’s no longer Friday in my time zone! Oh well. So who saw Twilight on opening night? I wanted to, but the person who promised to go with me was kind of working at the time. And I kind of don’t want to be sitting in a movie theatre with like… a hundred 10-13 year old fangirls who are too busy screaming over Jacob and Edward to watch the actual movie and to listen to the accompanying words. (And for those who are all ‘Team Jacob’ – Have you readBreaking Dawn? Totally creepy and not in a good way either. That being said, I like Edward and all but… Robert Pattinson? Really? Cedric?) But whatevs, I haven’t seen the movie yet so I won’t make rude comments towards Edward/Cedric just yet.
The first year that I did NaNo, I hit 50,000 words by November 20th. I don’t quite remember for the second or third year, but I finished/won/whatever’d at least by the 25th. This year? Well, it’s currently the 22nd (barely, but still) and I’m just over 38,000 words. It’s a slow year. Plus my plot didn’t have enough plot to it. And I had more things going on in terms of school (labs, papers, other assignments). And umm.. yeah. Yay for term papers, lab preperation and just overall other things going on. I am still, however, optimistic about finishing this weekend. Why? 2 days, 12,000 words. 6,000 words today and 6,000 tomorrow and then I’ll be blissfully done and I will never look at this piece of crap again (erm… not for another 5 months or so).
Click here to read about how I got approached by a 3 year old on the bus to be his girlfriend yesterday morning.

It doesn’t help that I stayed up until 1am… But I got onto the bus at 7:30am and I got to school by 8:53am and I handed in my paper at 9:01am (when I rushed/walked/strolled into the door of the classroom). And now here I am! Yay… I’m really tired right now.
Oh, I also had a three year old boy asking me to be his girlfriend on the bus this morning – I’ll be blogging about it over at my transit blog later.
Also, I got a hostee (Nichole) – she’s setting up her subdomain right now and when she’s got it up, I’ll link it somewhere.
How is everyone’s Friday going?

https://imaginarysunshine.com/index.php/2008/11/05/20006/#commentsWed, 05 Nov 2008 20:49:26 +0000http://imaginarysunshine.com/?p=706I forgot about the write-in today, I’m so horrible. Well, I remembered about 15 minutes after I was supposed to be there – by then I was already sitting down and looking over a friend’s paper for them. So I made a mental note to show up on Monday (and a note on my cell phone so I won’t forget!) and then went and started typing after I was done with the editing. I’m now at 20,006 words. Which is where I’m going to be stopping for today. My goal is to write 10,000 words on Friday (November 7th). So if I do another 2,000-ish words tomorrow, I should have around 30k words by Saturday morning. Which will make me a very happy person. Then I’ll probably do another 10,000 over the weekend and I’ll be very much ahead of the curve. I want to get it done much sooner than is really required of me because of the fact that I have a term paper due near the end of the month (one that I haven’t actually received the criteria for yet) and I also do have a term lab report to write for one of my bio labs (haven’t started writing yet because I haven’t started the lab yet). I’d question if I’m being ambitious or not, but I know I can do 10,000 words in a weekend and I know I need to get it done fast so I’ll be okay with studying and term papers and lab reports for the second half of the month.
Oh, want to know something crazy? If you look up ‘twilight icons’ on google, you get like 2,450,000 links. Which is really insane. But if you go to page three (links 21-30) the 23rd link out of 2,450,000 is my twilight icons. This is what happens when I go and look up the referral links to see where people come to my site from. And that’s one of the places. They go through google to find me! (Well, they’re really looking for twilight icons, but that’s okay too.)
]]>https://imaginarysunshine.com/index.php/2008/11/05/20006/feed/4The week’s almost over… right?
https://imaginarysunshine.com/index.php/2008/11/04/the-weeks-almost-over-right/
https://imaginarysunshine.com/index.php/2008/11/04/the-weeks-almost-over-right/#commentsWed, 05 Nov 2008 06:13:31 +0000http://imaginarysunshine.com/?p=704The way the American election works rather confuses me. Seriously, they vote for everything at the same time it seems. The President, the Governors, the Senate, assorted acts and laws and whatnot. And for those rejoicing over Obama’s win over McCain, you’re all forgetting something. Obama had 52,658,842 votes. McCain? 48,653,717. Sure, that seems like a huge difference (off by about 4 million votes) but I like statistics. That’s a hell of a lot of people who voted for the one with the donkey and a lot of people who voted for the one with the elephant (Can someone tell me why they use an elephant and a donkey? Is there some kind of cultural significance? Because I may not be a zoologist, but I’m pretty sure elephants aren’t native to the United States.).
Anyways, enough with the election talk. I had enough of that shocked down my throat (erm, into my ears) with listening to any of the podcasts that I regularly listen to and hearing people who usually offer wonderfully witty but sage advice telling me to go and vote right this very instant. I’m sorry? I’m Canadian? I don’t vote in the US presidential election because I don’t hold a dual citizenship? I feel like they’re expecting me to apologize for being born on this side of the border. But I digress. So onto more interesting things!
I finished the chapter 11 questions for my Family Studies class tonight. It was all about adolescents and the changes that teens go through (also talked about STDs – in depth about chlamydia, suicide, depression, pregnancy, alcohol, drug use and eating disorders). Always fascinating, I know. For instance, did you know that girls are more depressed than boys? However, boys have a higher suicide rate than girls but girls have a higher rate of attempted suicide than boys (they use less-effective suicide methods).
I have also actually been able to log into the NaNoWriMo forums without having to wait for 10 minutes per page. I’m excited. This means I can actually update my word count (holding steady at 18,069 words since this afternoon as I haven’t worked on it since getting home) without having to wait five minutes only for it to pop up telling me that the server is busy. Yes, I realize that the server is busy – that’s why it’s taking so long to get anywhere! I’m hoping that I’ll be able to find the room that was reserved for the write-ins in the building tomorrow – I had issues attempting to find it on Monday. I’m potentially geographically challenged? It’s also a rather hidden room so I don’t know. We’ll see!

Or something. Anyways… Hope everyone’s November 1st was awesome. I also hope that everyone’s novels are picking up steam and are going great. I ended today with 13,684 words. Below the 15,000-20,000 word count that I wanted, but I was being distracted by assorted things and people and my massive bag of candy (yum). Anyways, I’m hoping to get up to 20,000 tomorrow and then I’ll be using the rest of the day to go shopping for birthday things (placing the order for the cake, getting stuff for the dinner if I can, pop, chips, gummi bears, the usual).
Have a wonderful night, you night owls, you.

https://imaginarysunshine.com/index.php/2008/11/01/50-off-halloween-candy/#commentsSun, 02 Nov 2008 00:07:41 +0000http://imaginarysunshine.com/?p=683I could take or leave Halloween, but I do like candy. So I went to the local store and perused their Halloween aisle. All costumes were 50% off (ugly and plastic masks). There was cute costume for a princess type deal, except it was sized for a toddler. And since I’m no longer capable of fitting toddler-sized clothing or willing to have a child for the sake of putting them in a pink princess outfit, I obviously didn’t get it.
Instead, I got a 1kg (2.2lbs!) bag of candy (it’s a mix that contains lollipops, soft taffy, hard taffy and assorted hard candies) and a bag of Tootsie Rolls because I couldn’t resist. I spent under $5 for the entire thing (regular price would have been nearly $10). Yay for 50% off Halloween stock. My sister purchased a box of 50 mini chocolate bars for $5 (hmm, 10-cent-mini-chocolate-bar).
Anyways, the word count is currently at 11,009. I’m hoping to hit somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000 today.
