Have you ever done something for the first time ever and then after the novelty is still there and it’s almost all you can think about? Like it becomes some sort of unhealthy obsession (maybe obsession is a bit too strong of a word, but it’s the only thing that I can think of right now). Like, you end up thinking about it, and talking about and it’s seriously just in your head the entire time (except it wasn’t in my thoughts while I was writing my chemistry midterm – because that would have been bad and I generally get really focused during tests, which is good).

I think that was a bit confusing, allow me to clarify with an awesome example (or the best example that I can think of at the moment).

Say you’ve spent your entire life never having chocolate before. Sure, you’ve heard about it and you’ve seen the commercials for it, but you’ve just never had had an opportunity to have a chocolate bar. The closest thing that you’ve ever gotten to a bar of chocolate is the powdered hot chocolate that barely counts (because it’s stale, and it comes in a can that was bought on sale with two $0.50-off coupons and it just doesn’t measure up to the real thing). And then, one day, someone gives you a chocolate bar. A real chocolate bar. Like, let’s say it’s Swiss chocolate and it has the paper and the silver wrapping. And you take your precious time unwrapping it because it’s just such a new experience and it’s something that you want to savor. And then you get to the chocolate. And you’re hestiant to take a bite, but you end up eating it. And before you know it, you’ve had the entire bar of chocolate and you don’t have anymore. But now you know how chocolate tastes and how it feels and how it makes you all happy and joyful inside.

But after your chocolate is gone, the novelty lasts and all you can think about is chocolate. And having chocolate again and oh, when’s the next time that you’re going to get another chocolate bar? And what kind of chocolate can you get? What kind of brands are there that you can try? How does Belgium measure up to Swiss? What about mint, and almonds and dark and milk and white? Suddenly there’s just so many options open to you about what you could have and what is available in the grand world of chocolate.

I’m currently in that ‘Oh, that was some good chocolate and I’d really like some more… Right now. Please?’ stage. Because, well, the first experience with chocolate was rather nice and I’d like a repeat. Or maybe try some new variety of it.

I’m not quite sure if any of that made sense, so I’ll leave off with some questions for you.
