Have you ever been the victim of a prank call? Some obnoxious person decides to pull your phone number out of the local phone book and starts calling you (and calling and calling and calling) and sometimes you just wish that they would get tired of it and go away, or you could call them back and demand to speak to their parents (if they’re a teenager/child). But what happens if you just happened to miss and call and you glance at the screen of your cell phone and see a number you don’t recognize, but there’s no name attached? You’re obviously not going to just call any random number that has called you first because you don’t want to use up your cell minutes – which is perfectly understandable. Or, like this has happened to me once, I get my cell bill and I look it over to make sure everything’s fine and then there’s a number that I don’t recognize (and I certainly don’t remember calling that number). That’s where being able to trace phone numbers comes in handy.

TraceNumber.com offers such a service. All I had to do was type in a phone number and click their search button. It came up with city that the phone number originates from, what type of line it is (cellular or land line) and also tells me what phone carrier that phone number uses. If I want to find out more information (such as the name of the person who owns the telephone number or their address), there is an option to pay for a reverse phone look up as well. With TraceNumber.com, visitors are able to look up phone numbers in both Canada and the United States. You can even scroll down their webpage and see which area codes are supported by their website. I even got to learn something new today about the area code for British Columbia, it’s the same one used for New Jersey.

  1. GAH I hate when people do that. I didn’t really get ‘pranks’ (if they were, they were usually from someone I knew and I found out afterwards). But I did get some person calling my home AND mobile phone, asking for someone called ‘Woody’ and then someone called ‘Nicole’. I told them they got the wrong number, yet they keep calling. GRRRRRR.

  2. Oh.. I have a lot of plans for after school/exams/formal/stuff. Mostly with my boyfriend. But well, I gotta karaoke with my friends, hang out in the city, go daytripping – loads of stuff!
