October 27 2007 – December 25 2007

This layout was created in Photoshop CS with photos taken from stock.xchng from the users icefront and retrowiec. The quote because you saw me when I was invisible… comes from the poem that I wrote where the name Imaginary Sunshine comes from.

This layout was created in Photoshop CS3 Extended with stock photography from stock.xchng from the users meisax and CraigPJ. The font used is ‘Century Gothic’. The text in the image is a quote from the novel The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It is one of my favourite quotes from the novel. “They waste their time over a rag doll and it becomes very important to them; and if anybody takes it away from them, they cry…”

July 5 2008 – August 19 2008

Created in Photoshop CS3 with stock photography from the stock.xchng users stevendunn, Snickup, crisderaud, scol22 and drniels. The font used for the layout was Ellianarelle’s Path. I decided that the last layout was a bit dark and dreary and since it’s summertime and the daisies are in bloom, it was time for something a bit more cheerful! The quote ‘I have confidence issues with your intentions’ the song You’ll Ask For Me by Tyler Hilton.

August 19 2008 – October 3 2008

Created in Photoshop CS3 with stock photography from the stock.xchng users tahuano, petercaulf and sloopjohnb. The font used for the layout was Violation. The lines ‘hearts can change hands’ and ‘but I still love you’ were bastardized from the song ‘I Still Love You’ by Alexz Johnson.

October 3 2008 – October 31 2008

Created in Photoshop CS3 with stock photography from the stock.xchng user loleia. The font used was Giddyup Std. The layout features my first (successful!) tiled background that has more detail than a line or two. My favourite flowers are daisies and I couldn’t resist using the photograph when I found it.

October 31 2008 – November 30 2008

Created in Photoshop CS3 with stock photography from the stock.xchng user nazreth. The font used was Eurostile. The birthday edition for IS.com’s first birthday (October 27th) and my 19th birthday (in November).

November 30 2008 – December 29 2008

Created in Photoshop CS3 with stock photography from stock.xchng user zela. The font used was It Ain’t Rocket Science. This is my Happy Holidays, let’s all be cheerful for winter holidays kind of deal layout. And… That’s all I really have to say about it!

layout10

December 29 2008 – February 2 2009

Created in Photoshop CS3 with stock photography from the stock.xchng user Apollo777. The font used is Tall Paul. I used a texture that I made myself, I also looked up the dimensions of an actual Polaroid photo in order to make it as accurate as possible.

layout111

February 2 2009 – February 28 2009

Created in Photoshop CS3 with stock photography from the stock.xchng user recircle. The font used is It Ain’t Rocket Science. The quote featured is from Victor Hugo (who wrote Les Miserables!) and it is “Life is the flower for which love is the honey”. My attempt at a Valentine’s/love themed WordPress theme without going on all pink and red and ‘yay hearts!’ everywhere.

layout12

March 1 2009 – April 1 2009

Created in Photoshop CS3 with stock photography from the stock.xchng user andrewalta. The font used is Georgia and the header includes the phrase ‘memento mori’, which is a Latin phrase that means “Be mindful of death”, “Remember that you are mortal” and/or “Remember you will die”.

layout13

April 1 2009 – May 1 2009

Created in Photoshop CS3 with a gorgeous stock photo from the stock.xchng user OhWoww. The font used is Georgia. The header includes a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt and reads “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”.

layout14

May 1 2009 – May 23 2009

Created in Photoshop CS3 with a gorgeous stock photo from the stock.xchng user ljweb. The font used is Century Gothic. After the super-spring-inspiring layout in April, I wanted something that was related but a little less… peppy. And I think the more subtle tones manages to accomplish that.

layout15

May 23 2009 – June 5 2009

Created in Photoshop CS3 with a gorgeous stock photo from the stock.xchng user CraigPJ, who happens to be the same photographer who took the photograph for the second layout of Imaginary Sunshine. The font used is Century Gothic and it is another spring/summer inspired layout. More flowers! I know! But sunflowers are gorgeous and the photographer did a wonderful job with the photo. The background was created with a light blue heart on a blue background, tiled throughout. The header featured the phrase “you, and you alone, can break my heart”. It doesn’t come from a song, but it does come from a poem that I wrote.

layout16

June 5 2009 – July 5 2009

Created in Photoshop CS3 with this absolutely wonderful stock photo of a pink Gerber daisy (which I was instantly infatuated with) by the wonderful stock.xchng user jonriv. The font used was Pupcat, the colour scheme was an appropriate mixture of pinks, white, black and dark gray. The header featured the phrase “He loves me. He loves me not.” repeated below the title.

layout17

July 5 2009 – August 8 2009

Created in Photoshop CS3 with this great stock photo of a wheat by the talented stock.xchng user dimitri_c. The font used was Felix Titling, the colour scheme was an appropriate mixture of browns – dark, warm chocolate and light, almost a cream colour. The header featured the phrase “some things are better left unspoken” faded into the background.

layout18

August 8 2009 – September 5 2009

Created in Photoshop CS3 with the stock photo of a sowthistle by the stock.xchng user auriscia. The fonts used are Century Gothic and Jayne. The colour scheme was again an mixture of appropriate browns, a little bit more warm and red in tones. The header featured the phrase “make a wish, fall in love”. As a child, I made wishes on a lot of things – a found penny, eyelashes, the ‘first star’ seen at night… One of the things I never made wishes on were dandelion seeds, which resembles the sowthistle.

layout19

September 5 2009 – September 27 2009

Created in Photoshop CS4 with a photo that I took when I went to the beach with my friends during the summer of 2009. The fonts used are Century Gothic and Georgia. The colour scheme is a mixture of blues with white. I loved this photo when I took it, just the way the clouds were and all the little details that were caught on camera.

layout20

September 27 2009 – October 25 2009

Created in Photoshop CS4 with a photo I took at night of a lit Olympic rings symbol while in a moving car (no Photoshopping was done to get that light effect) back in May 2009. The font used was Century Gothic. The header has the phrase “am I still invisible to you?”.

layout21

October 25 2009 – December 4 2009

Created in Photoshop CS4 as my November 2009 theme. I used an image from a series of photographs I took back in February 2009 of metallic pinwheels. The font used as ReservoirGrunge, the colour theme was dark blues, purples and pinks/reds. The header has the phrase “do you still see me?”.

layout22

December 4 2009 – January 1 2010

Created in Photoshop CS4 for December of 2009. I used a photo from the stock.xchng user MALINIAKXX. The font used was Century Gothic and the colour scheme was down in browns (darks and lights). The words in the header says “if I never knew you, I’d never love you, if I never loved you, I’d never cry, if loving meant living then I wouldn’t die” from the song Sugar Free from Hedley.

January 1 2010 – February 22 2010

Created in Photoshop CS4 for January 2010! I used a photo that was taken by my mom while she was on vacation in Hong Kong. The font used was Georgia and it features partial lyrics from the song Fact Fiction by Mads Langer (“Imagine a world without me – say you’re falling apart. Wouldn’t you say you were lonely and love was breaking your heart?”). Theme features a dark background and bright colours.

February 22 2010 – April 2 2010

Created in Photoshop CS4. I used a photo from the stock.xchng user stiscornia. The font used was Century Gothic. Overall theme was for a light spring feeling, I believe that was accomplished with the theme.

April 2 2010 – April 30 2010

Created in Photoshop CS4, I used a photo that I took in July 2009. Font used was Times New Roman and it is a considerably more subdued theme in terms of colours with pairings of shades of gray, green and dark red.

April 30 2010 – July 4 2010

Created in Photoshop CS4, I used a photo from the stock.xchng user zgashi. The font used was Prestige Elite Std. I was going for a late spring feel. The phrases on the header (“I think I found my best friend.” and ‘I think I found my way home.”) are from the song “I Knew I Loved You” by Savage Garden.

July 4 2010 – September 13 2010

Created in Photoshop CS4, I used a photo that I took of jellyfish at the Vancouver Aquarium in June 2010. I went for a sombre feeling, using mostly dark colours, Georgia font and the Latin phrase carpe diem. Alternatively, it would have been a nice, light summery theme with light colours and cheerful thoughts. The polar opposite was the one chosen to go up.

September 13 2010 – February 13 2011

Created in Photoshop CS4, I used photos that I had taken at the Vancouver Aquarium in June 2010. I was going for a cheerful feeling. I really love sea otters and think that they’re fantastic. Sea otters are keystone species in the ecosystem that they’re native to, along with the food that they love (sea urchins). It’s a really interesting relationship that those two organisms share and I really like sea otters and just think they’re fascinating and adorable. I went with shades of green that reminded me of the water in the tank and I used the font Garamond.

February 13 2011 – May 5 2011

The first theme for 2011 took a little while to get up. I wanted something spring-like and slightly subdued in terms of colours. I opted for flowers, as always, and used images from the sxc.hu user hirekatsu. I was looking for a calming feeling, but still wanted something to do with nature. The header was created in Photoshop CS4, had 24 layers, and the font used was Book Antiqua.

May 5 2011- November 6 2011

Something bright and cheery, that’s the only thing I wanted for a new spring-summer theme here on ImaginarySunshine.com. I used a photo that was taken by me in early October 2010. I wanted something to represent both life and Canada, and what better way than with leaves from a national icon, the Maple. The header was created in Photoshop CS4 and the font used was Century Gothic.

screenshot31

November 6 2011 – July 15 2014

The longest running theme here on Imaginary Sunshine. I spent quite a bit of time not blogging during this period. I drew the pixel image based on my favicon, a little pixel girl with a heart balloon. The font used was Teen.

screenshot32

July 15 2014 – Present

I needed a ‘fresh’ start, so I made a new theme! Using hot pink, a dark grey, and a clean white minimalistic-look, I simplified Imaginary Sunshine quite a bit. Fonts used in the header image were Century Gotchic and Jayne. I also removed most of the ‘content’ on the website, most of which I hadn’t updated since before 2010, so the focus is more on me, and my blog.
