For those who don’t know about the coalition government that are in the works and those who are Canadian (because if you are Canadian, I’m assuming you’re not living underneath a rock and that you’re perfectly aware of the fact that the Conservatives are very much about to have the proverbial rug pulled out right from underneath their feet), democracy is at work right now. Three major federal political parties signed this great little thing to form a coalition government. Liberals, NDP and Bloc Quebecois (oh, the French!) signed it in order to take control.
Poor Harper. Hadn’t even gotten his seat warm and they’re already plotting to screw him over.
To be fair, combined, the Liberals, NDP and Bloc have more seats than the Conservatives do. And once the coalition government is formed, they’ll be splitting up the seats for the cabinet so that it’ll be 25% NDP and 75% Liberals (the Bloc are ‘unofficially’ attached the agreement, but still in agreement nonetheless because… well… the Conservatives kind of suck at times).
And I leave you all with this charming little poem I found off of the message boards on CBC.ca:
For the uninitiated… Jack is Jack Layton (NDP leader), Stéphane is Stéphane Dion (Liberals) and Gilles is Gilles Duceppe (Bloc Quebecois).
I heart that poem so much =)
Coalition governments ftw.
I think I have to be one of the most ignorant people when it comes to politics. All of that was like O.O abuh?1 But the poem was cute
The poem is awesome. I’m kinda pleased Harper’s out though.
