I nicked this meme from Jenn!
1.What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
I went curling, it was part of a friend’s birthday celebration and I had fun (and bruised myself, teehee).
2.Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t think I made any resolutions for 2010, actually. And I probably won’t make any really, although I did make some doll-related ones (to help curb my spending), but that was about it for the upcoming year.
3.Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
4.Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5.What countries did you visit?
None.
6.What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
More time for my hobbies, more time for school work, more time with friends, more time with Clay.
7.What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
November 5th, 11:50pm (I saved a text, and that’s the time stamp). And I don’t really want to get into why, but Clay knows why.
8.What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finishing the second half of first year math in April 2010. I was so excited about it because it meant that I could a) continue with my degree program and b) just move on with my courses. I didn’t do particularly well in calculus, but I passed and finished it, and that’s what mattered to me. I also got A’s in Entomology (!!!) and ecology, which I’m incredibly stoked about. Also, not failing Oceanography, win!
9.What was your biggest failure?
Possibly failing biochemistry. I didn’t have particularly high hopes for it, but I was really disappointed in myself for it. But wow, how slightly pathetic am I that my major achievements and failures have to do with school?
10.Did you suffer illness or injury?
No major injuries, mostly bruises (but I bruise easily). I did have my wisdom teeth removed, but that was sort of self-inflicted in that I made and kept the appointments. I did get sick for a bit – mostly flu-like symptoms and whatnot. Nothing too serious and I hope that luck holds out for 2011 as well *knocks on wood*
11.What was the best thing you bought?
Let’s see… Do I only get to pick one? I’m torn between my cell phone (bought in August!) that I’m paying for entirely on my own (my previous phone was paid for by my mom, since she had credit and I didn’t when I was 17) and have all sorts of fun things on; my external hard drive (1 Tb!) and my Margaret Meets Ladybug Blythe doll (named Bennett), she’s pretty awesome and I absolutely adore her to bits.
12.Whose behavior merited celebration?
Mine, because I was very, very good this year and very, very patient.
13.Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My father’s.
14.Where did most of your money go?
Where most of my money always goes: school/tuition and that’s followed by bills, textbooks and other miscellaneous expenditures.
15.What events did you get really, really, really excited about?
The 2010 Winter Olympics! I saw The Ataris live! I saw Disney’s The Lion King (musical)! Last day(s) of exams! And starting work (<- I’m a dork)!
16.What song will always remind you of 2010?
Can’t believe I’m admitting this, but probably Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. I heard it everywhere and it was on the radio all the time. Awful. And catchy. And I rather like it. But uggggggh, I clearly need better taste in music.
17.Compared to this time last year, are you:
i.happier or sadder? Happier!
ii.thinner or fatter? I’m pretty sure I stayed about the same, but probably went up a little bit.
iii.richer or poorer? Overall, I think there was a plus.
18.What do you wish you’d done more of?
I wish I had crocheted more, knitted more, sewn more and spent more time with the boyfriend & friends. But I’m pretty sure I think that every year.
19.What do you wish you’d done less of?
Procrastinate…
20.How will you be spending Christmas?
Since Christmas already passed… I spent it at home with the family and got bitched at, listened to people arguing and tried to drown people out with chocolate and angry sounding music. Wow, I sound like such an angsty teenager.
21.Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
No one…? I text everyone, heh. Probably my dad, because for some weird reason he is incapable of hearing the doorbell when someone in the family is ringing the doorbell and I have to call him to get him to open the door for me. However, when UPS or Canada Post comes to the door, he answers at the first sound of the door bell.
22.Did you fall in love in 2010?
I fell more in love with my boyfriend, Clay.
23. How many one-night stands??
None.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Warning, I’m naming more than one: Grey’s Anatomy, General Hospital, The Big Bang Theory, Dollhouse.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Nah, that generally stays pretty consistent.
26. What was the best book you read?
In 2010, No Mercy by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Best re-read was Just Listen by Sarah Dessen.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery or rediscovery?
Rediscovery: The Ataris.
28. What did you want and get?
Margaret Meets Ladybug (Blythe doll), I bought her for myself (hehe); a new cell phone (!!!); nicer clothes.
29. What did you want and not get?
A DSLR camera, did not get this (from me, or otherwise). I also wanted a Sunday Best (Blythe) or Kenner (Blythe) and didn’t get either in 2010.
30. What were your favorite films of this year?
I didn’t really see a lot of new films in 2010, I did finally watch a few older films that I had been meaning to though and I liked Whip It and (500) Days of Summer.
31.What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I had cake with wine and I turned 21.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Sex toys, if I may be totally honest and open.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
I have a personal fashion concept? I’d like to think that I dress ‘more my age’ now, but that’s probably not the case. I dress more for comfort than anything else. But I have improved my wardrobe of lingerie, so that did get better (and prettier).
34. What kept you sane?
My Blythes & my Nintendo DS (lite). Most stressful moments can be alleviated with an intense game of Tetris. And boring moments can be fixed by defeating opposing Pokémon.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most/least?
Erm. No one?
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The stupid idea of people surveying polar bears to see if they could ‘okay’ European people to go to Canada, shoot polar bears and then bring them home as trophies. Like polar bears don’t have enough to deal with in the forms of warmer weather, sea ice not reforming and general pollution.
37. Whom did you miss?
Clay, because he works a lot and doesn’t always have time for me.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
A and L! Both are friends I made in my Entomology lecture & lab. They were super awesome.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
That life is short and things can change so quickly. That someone you know, but aren’t the best of friends with, can touch your life profoundly and you never know when that person will disappear from your life. That the moment is all you have and that you really should make the best of every day.
And also, that my father is not going to change who he is. He’s not going to wake up one day and not be prejudice, a bigot or a racist. That I cannot change him. And that nothing I do in life will ever merit his approval. And I’ve realized that it’s okay, because he has outrageous expectations and I should never stoop down to his level and hate myself wanting to gain his approval.
40. Do you have any lost feelings of others?
Yes and no, but I don’t want to get into that.
41.Quote a song that sums up your year:
I can’t think of any at the moment <- not a quote.
