Season 2 of The Tudors premieres in 30 minutes! My sister doesn’t know why I like it, she likens it to pornography. But I just find it artistic and the costuming is lovely. And besides, I’ve always liked history and reading about royal families (and the scandals that were always present) was a great past time when I was younger.
And it’s Jonathan Rhys Meyers. As king. Being all demanding and glowering. Wanting things and doing whatever it takes to get what he wants. -fans self- Oh boy. Hey, he can order me around any day of the week.
Other awesome season premieres tomorrow include Pushing Daisies and Private Practice. I’ve already cut down my regular tv watching (One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, all the CSI, Law and Order: SVU are all being put on hold until after April 2009). Right now the only things I plan on watching regularly is my daily dose of General Hospital, Grey’s Anatomy, The Tudors and potentially Private Practice (if not, I’ll be keeping it on PVR). But that’s about it. And maybe Heroes, I haven’t decided yet though.

As a university student, one of the first things that I learned when I started school there last September was that the school prides itself on keeping its community safe. We were handed campus safety whistles (I’ve tried mine out before, it’s pretty loud) and there are special phones located everywhere on campus with bright blue lights – they say that if we are outside of a building on any of the streets, we should always be able to see one of the phones. But there’s plenty that my school doesn’t supply us with. For example, if we want to learn how self defense, we can choose to pay for a course through my school, and other personal safety equipment, such as pepper spray, is an expense that we have to pay for ourselves.
But, there is one product at planetmace.com that I would not mind getting for myself. For those who don’t know me very well or have ever read any of my blog entries where I talk about dogs, I really don’t like dogs. I liked them just fine when I was really young, but then there’s just the little issue of my eight-year-old self getting jumped on by an adult German Shepherd (who was owned by my best friend, at the time). Previous to that, I hadn’t had any issues with dogs. But when I was 8, I was short and tiny so having something that is 6-feet-plus when standing up on it’s hind legs jumping on me, pushing me down and barking right over my face isn’t exactly a situation that I am dying to go through again. And in my neighbourhood, a lot of people own dogs. Actually, allow me to correct myself: a lot of people own dogs and let them off-leash in residential areas. I don’t care how ‘good’ or ‘nice’ you think that your dog is, it’s not a fenced in park for off-leash dogs, it’s not your own backyard or living room. You should keep your dog on its leash at all times when you’re walking in it in area where little kids can run around, where cars are going and where people, such as myself, are walking. So there’s this great product at planetmace.com that I was checking out, it’s called Mace Muzzle Canine Repellent and it comes with a keychain. I like animals, I do. I just like the idea of able to tell a dog ‘no means no’ in the event that it decides to jump and start pawing at me. Plus the website says that it’s a “safe, effective and humane defense against dog attacks” and is EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) approved. Hey, if the government says it’s okay to use, why not?

What is the most useful gift you’ve ever been given?
I’m not going to lie, the most useful gift that I can think of that I’ve received is money. Tuition and textbooks are expensive and I’m paying for my education myself at the moment.
Name the most terrifying moment of your life so far.
Umm… I have to only pick one? Being in a plane when it’s going through turbulence… Being in a car that my father is driving (now that I’m aware of issues with driving, because I drive, I realize how unsafe he is)… But I’d have to say one of the more terrifying moments would be… when the earthquake occurred in LA (my sister lives down there). When the earthquake occurred in China and I wasn’t sure where it was centred (I have a lot of relatives there). And… when 9/11 occured (my parents had boarded a plane that morning and I couldn’t remember what their flight numbers were or what the air plane company names were).
One hot summer afternoon, while walking through a parking lot at a large shopping center, you notice a dog suffering badly from the heat inside a locked car. What would you do?
Well… See, I’m not a big fan of dogs. If I was a good person, I would get something and get the window open. Like just pick up a rock and break it open. But since I’m not the best person in the world… If I was making my way to into the shopping centre, I would go to the customer service desk with the license plate number and tell them what was going on and let them deal with it. But if I was going away from the shopper centre, I’m not sure what I would do about it, if anything. It really depends on where I’m going after, what time of the day it is, if I have perishable food items in my shopping cart. (Yes, I realize that this is going to completely make me sound like a horrible human being and I’m going to have PETA and animal activists spamming my website when in reality, you can’t really hold me responsible for not getting the dog out – after all, I’m not the owner.)
