I clearly lead a boring life…

I bought the same ones a few months ago… also because my other ones had a loose connection and because they were on sale, haha. Mine are blue, which caused a bit of a crisis when I went to pick out my new iPod last week and wanted the orange one. I settled on purple instead. *shrugs*

And then I lost my faith in the decency of humanity…

I knew I didn’t want to read this…

I really don’t understand how anyone could do that to an animal. I’ve got both cats sleeping on the couch with me right now, and it makes me sick to think that they could ever be subjected to something like that. I hate to see my critters even scared, let alone hurt. (Okay, sometimes scared can be funny… like a severe over-reaction to an unexpected sneeze.)

My little dirty peanut buttery secret

All the time. I’ll even do it more than once, but I clean the spoon first. In fact, between the husband and myself, I think that’s how 50% of the jar is used.

Cranky? *Me?* Never!

What I especially hate about those sorts of people is that they like to make you out to have “no sense of humor” when, honestly… it’s them that has a rather pathetic sense of what’s funny.

Wisdomless – Part 1

Isn’t that malpractice? Slightly disturbing to think about that happening to someone who isn’t able to read the prescription…

Glad everything went relatively well. I should probably get my wisdom teeth out, but no insurance generally means putting up with everything not likely to result in my imminent death, unfortunately.

Pissed, based on principle

It’s also a bit of an insult to your parents, really… No matter that THEY are fine with you taking transit, she has to step in and correct them.

Does she live in a city at all? Most of my family worries about me here, though it’s pretty small and the biggest threat are generally drunk college guys. They just automatically assume that city = danger because they mostly live in the middle of nowhere. (Which is far scarier, if you ask me.)

Rambling on guest blogging and brazen thieves

I don’t understand guest blogging at all. I get the networking aspect of it… but, that’s about where it ends.

As for posting inspiration from Flickr or whathaveyou, I guess it just depends on the way it’s handled. I don’t find the occasional Flickr Find Friday on what is normally a personal blog, because sometimes other people do make pretty cool stuff and sharing it is fun. I also don’t mind sites that are entirely made up of other people’s work, so long as it’s credited and sort of a showcase/promotion sort of deal. (Epicute, for example, is awesome.) But, I can understand losing interest in someone who was originally doing their own thing, then slowly faded into featuring others’ work.

I haven’t heard of any thefts at my college, but I did watch someone buy pot and roll a joint in plain view in front of the main building today. Granted, the laws about marijuana are fairly lenient here (we do host Hash Bash, after all) but, I don’t think that applies in a school zone.

Internets, meet my formerly denomic gnomes.

I have Mo… he’s currently on the shelf “cleaning” a Bob-omb, because it makes me giggle. I haven’t been able to get a good Wall-E, though.

Squirrelisms

Aww… poor squirrel. That makes me sad.

On a lighter squirrel-related note, one climbed onto our balcony with a walnut in its mouth today, and walked right up to the screen door. Max had just sat down for some window-watching… I imagine this is the single greatest day of his life.

Happy anniversary!

Congrats!

Here’s to many more…

Work-a-lot Bear* & Buzzy W.A.S.P. update**

I’m both glad and sad to see that your parents react the same way mine do when something good happens, or you take an interest in something. (I also heard my mom do it to my brother the other day… so, at least it’s not just me.)

But, congrats on the Bob-omb. I think I’ve officially given up on learning to crochet or knit, and now have to find someone to make me fingerless gloves. (A scarf, I can handle.)

Blythe

I imagine that once I buy my first, I’ll never be able to justify it to anyone who happens to see it. I don’t see it as any different than anything else someone decides to spend money on… I consider all of my collections to be part of the decor, and I think they make the apartment far more comfortable and personal than any fancy furniture or art.

ARGH, people.

Luckily, the only people I tend to interact with at work are older women. They don’t really do anything objectionable, unless something I say sort of asks for it. (Don’t tell a 50-year-old new grandmother that you don’t want kids. It’s unwise.)

The worst nicknames I’ve gotten are Codfish, as in “C-O-D-oh, hey! Your name has Cod in it!” and Coca-Cola, which I still can’t explain.

9 to 10 Calculus

Yay, me!

Guh… registration. I think I’ve block that from my memory. I would always have the PERFECT schedule worked out, then one full (or canceled) class would throw the whole thing off.

Say my name, say my name

To clarify… since it would be weird for me to consistently pronounce it both ways…

Mih-Shell is the “right” way for me… Muh-Shell is the sort of lazy pronunciation.

» Posted By Cody On July 14, 2009 @ 3:29 pm

Muh-Shell or Mih-Shell. Me-Shell isn’t really common around here.

Fight, date night and Blythe – oh my!

SO jealous!

Though, mostly jealous that you can actually just go out and buy a Blythe. I don’t think there is any place around here to get one.

Dolls & BBQ’s (… obviously not together!)

I’ve never seen either of those dolls. I like Milky Way Sugar.

My choices are Primadolly Aubrey, Primadolly Aubrena, and Friendly Freckles. They’re all too similar to get more than one… but, they’re just different enough that I can’t really decide.

» Posted By Cody On June 27, 2009 @ 5:50 am

Like a little kid (most days!)

Ha. I’ve got my Blythe doll choices narrowed down to three… and have been looking at clothes on Etsy every now and again to see which outfits I like best for which doll.

I’ve been telling myself for two years that I’ll buy myself one for my birthday. It still hasn’t happened. Maybe the third time will be the charm… and I’ll celebrate 25 with a Blythe doll.

I call this the “Lazy Lotus” posture.

I plan to join a class as soon as my bank account will allow. I’d like to do something more energetic as well… but, I have to start somewhere.

Apple sauce

Raspberry iced tea is one of the greatest things in the world. As is peach tea.

I rarely order anything else at restaurants, and I’m just bewildered when it’s not on the menu.

Last to know?

I’m not really the last to know… my mom always calls me if something terribly important happens. I am, however, not generally involved. I haven’t seen my dad’s side of the family in nearly four years because no one ever tells me about family gatherings or birthday parties. Granted, I’m often working weekends and couldn’t get a day off if I tried, but it would still be nice to be given a head’s up every now and again.

Hilarity ensued

The diamond thing really freaks me out for some reason… but, then again I find the idea of cremation and urns pretty revolting, too.

Hey there, sunshine!

I’ve got the opposite happening… On the 2nd, I was able to walk to the park in a light jacket and play on the swings. Today, there are trees down everywhere due to heavy snow.

I haven’t seen hardly any flowers yet, either.

“$490! He totally loves me!” -gag-

I don’t think I’ve ever bothered to look up the cost of something Brad got me… But, I don’t think books and DVDs have quite the same cost factor as jewelry does, you know? I’d be way more impressed if he found a good deal, myself.

You know… $500 from Tiffany’s is cheap. It’s pretty much finding the only affordable thing, rather than choosing something he knew she’d like. I kind of hate when people do that… like the guys at the mall on Valentine’s Day buying tiny boxes of Godiva because that’s all they can afford, but hey… the gold box says they care.

I talk about yarn… Like a lot…

Oh, and the cheating-boyfriend situation… I don’t understand how people can put up with that sort of thing. I don’t think I could ever be very forgiving about that.

» Posted By Cody On March 27, 2009 @ 6:02 pm

I really wanted to be a yarn-arts sort of person. I did pretty well on most straight knitting projects, even intarsia. But, every project I tried with a lot on increasing and decreasing just… sucked. I get frustrated really easily, and just haven’t been up for trial and error lately.

Plus, being allergic to wool and having a mild aversion to animal products in general… good yarn was pretty slim-pickins for me.

So I’ve outed myself to the boyfriend

Hi Clay! (Or something.)

I once had a “private” LiveJournal in which I wrote about some of our issues early on in the relationship. It took me about a month to let him in. Other than that, he’s known of all my blogs from the beginning. And he’s read them all.

I haven’t blogged about anything terribly personal in years, so it’s really not an issue.

Forums are where I draw the line. I wouldn’t like him poking around there and seeing what I say, even if it’s not that interesting. That’s where I hang out with “the girls” I guess. Even if I haven’t been active on Verity in a long time.

Obligatory love

1. I can’t think of any hobbies for an older man. My dad doesn’t really seem to have many hobbies. At least not anymore. My parents used to be into card games and puzzles and things.

2. I bake, collect toys, write postcards and pen-pal letters, swap online and blog.

…and if you don’t mind, I’d like to see your protected posts. :)

It looks like tax season

I used TurboTax online. It was simple enough… I can’t imagine having someone else do it… at least not with as little information as I need to put in. If I ever start a small business, I’ll definitely have someone doing the taxes for me, though.

I do need to see if I can get less taken out of my check, though. Getting over $1200 this last week was great and all, but I’d prefer to have a little more every week.
