On Saturday May 10th, 2008, sometime between 12:00am-1:00am, I asked Clay out. Which shocked and surprised both him and myself. I first met him in the summer of 2006 (at work) when I was 16 and he was 22. When I asked him out, I was 18 and he was 24. If you do the math, it seems like he’s six years older than I am, which isn’t actually the case (he’s five years and seven months older, give or take a few days).

A hundred days later on Monday August 18th, 2008, we shared our first kiss which occurred in the first aid/storage room at work. Classy, right? It probably took a lot longer than how everyone else’s relationships took to get to the point of the first kiss, but we spent a lot of time between the initial asking out and the first kiss just getting to know one another better. And I guess both of us like what we’ve found out about each other since we did go a ninety-nine days with probably over a dozen arguments and not a single kiss.

At a hundred and twenty days, Sunday September 7th, 2008,  we went out on our fist date. We went out for dinner (I had key lime pie, he had burger and fries). We watched a movie (Wall-E) and in general just had fun. In a way, waiting that long for the date was probably worth it since we were able to get to know more about one another and just become more comfortable with each other. For more on the first date, click here.

He first met the majority of my friends (or the ones that I really call my friends) and my sister on Saturday November 8th, 2008 at my 19th birthday party. We talked, hugged, kissed. He stayed with me while I was emptying the contents of my stomach due to an adverse reaction to too much alcohol too fast (also, uncontrollable shaking due to Redbull, boo). I got picked up a lot and tickled because he likes hearing me squeak (apparently that’s cute, I don’t know) and making me squirm.

We exchanged “I love you’s” on Saturday, January 17th, 2009. Which he took back on Sunday, January 18th and then basically reinstated it on Monday, January 19th. He’s very indecisive at times, but that’s okay (sometimes). We spent Valentine’s Day together (Saturday, February 14th, 2009) and exchanged small gifts and had a genuinely wonderful time together and had lots of cutesy little moments together. Our first anniversary was fairly low key, we were both busy and we spent it apart (Monday, September 7th, 2009) but exchanged lovey-dovey words all the same.

More relationship milestones will be recorded here as they happen.
