Nomnomnom, candy!

Happy Halloween everyone!

I did get dressed up today. Sort of. I wore cat ears to the bank, to the mall, out for lunch. The people at the bank (the ones that recognize me) commented on them because I’m the only person that they’ve seen dressed up that came into the bank so far that was wearing clothes appropriate for the weather (well yeah, my mom was there…). The staff at the restaurant that we went to (we’re regulars) just smiled and nodded and asked me what I wanted for lunch. People at the mall? Well, some of them were friendly. I had this little girl run up to me because she was dressed up like a mouse and wanted to know if I was going to chase her, so adorable. And then, at the other end of the spectrum, a guy who was in a group with some other guys went “What’s up pussy… cat?” and said some other stuff that’s not fitting for the internet. Ugh. But besides that… I’ve been productive today.

  • Went to the bank (yay for paying bills and cashing in cheques)
  • Went out for lunch (there were two kids at another table that were loudly going “Why is that old lady wearing cat ears?”. They looked to be about 4-6 years old. But old? Really?)
  • Went grocery shopping, placed an order for two birthday cakes (one for the sister, one for me!)
  • Encountered more kids, was told by some people working in mall stores that I’m too old for trick-or-treater (because, really, when someone is actually browsing through the stuff in a store, they’re totally looking to ask for some candy)
  • Worked on my biology paper and finished it – also, submitted it to TurnItIn.com and it informed me that I had 4% ‘plagiarized’ parts of my ~1000 word paper (including citations). Citation #1: one of my cited works (not changing, because that’d be stupid) and Citation #2: symptoms of a disease (“night blindness and loss of peripheral vision [...] and [...] the”). Sent an email to my TA to see if I have to change the second one.
  • Typed up and uploaded a poem that I wrote on Friday onto Chelle-Chelle.com (need to be registered, logged in and an approved user in order to read it).

Now I’m off to do a little bit of crocheting, while having a glass of wine and watching a movie. I’m talking to one of my friends from school on msn and she can’t decide if it’s sad and pathetic that I’m drinking alone and staying home on Halloween or if it’s sort of classy to be drinking wine instead of something else and to not be getting completely drunk at a random Halloween party (like she’s going to be doing in probably half an hour) while dressed up in a costume that would be right at home on a stripper pole. I opted for neither, but she insisted on saying that it was a classy sort of pathetic. Thanks, really, T.

How was your Halloween?

Rain, rain, go away

At school today, I found Waldo sitting with Cleopatra, a rather short looking Jack Sparrow and a random vampire. None of my profs dressed up (I had profs dress up last year, and give out candy – no one was that interested in doing so today). However, classes went well today. Still waiting on the results for one of my midterms (Tuesday!) and then after that, only 2 more midterms, 2 more projects, 2 papers, 1 lab final and 4 final exams. Yeah… I don’t know, the term’s only been a handful of weeks but it’s just felt like it’s been so long. I mean, I only took a midterm last week, but it has felt like it’s been forever ago. I don’t know, it’s weird. Time, not flying at all.

In other news… One of my coworkers has not forgotten about me (they always claim to whenever I pop up again at work). He inherited a tub of gummy candy from another coworker who moved (from Building A to Building B) and he told my mom that “since Michelle always had like a handful whenever I saw her” that I should have the candy. Mmm, artificial colours and flavours, delicious! And then today he sent cookies to me via my mom. So eating handfuls of candy (not on a daily basis, mind you) a few months ago means that I get a tub of candy… Works out well, I think!

The weather has been crap today. The rain wasn’t that bad when I left volunteering today, but I just got to the sidewalk when I saw the bus zooming by and it was going to be about another 30 minutes before the next bus showed up, so I figured that I would walk home instead. 10 minutes later, it was pissing rain. I anticipated the weather being horrible, so I wore a lot of layers (regular shoes though – don’t know what I was thinking, a tee, a hoodie, a jacket, knee socks, jeans). Oh, guess what was completely soaked through by the time I got home? My jacket, my hoodie, my shoes and my jeans, at least up to mid-thigh. Not cool, not cool at all. Oh, and about 5 minutes after I got home? Rain stopped.

And it’s Halloween tomorrow… My names? Working on a biology paper, studying, organic chemistry problems, shopping. Yay… Such is the life of someone who has no… life?

How has your Thursday and Friday been?

Sleep, sleep, glorious sleep

Some things that I have realized in the last 24 hours:

  • Waking up at 6am (slept in a little) and not eating anything I get home after school is not a good idea. (Only one class, so I got home before noon, but didn’t eat my blueberry waffles until around 2pm-ish.)
  • I’ve gotten way too good at procrastinating. Bleh.
  • My biology paper is due in a week – I can’t seem to conclude it properly. Argh.
  • People are growing up a lot faster than I think they used to. I talked a (very young) relative out of having sex last night (because the “pulling out method” is not a proper form of contraception, thanks).

Anyways… School was fun today (since I only had one class, minus the whole stomach growling and yelling at me for not ingesting food…), my prof was so hilarious… up until the point that he revealed that he was going to finish the only set of lecture notes that was up last night and that there was a whole new set and no one had it because he didn’t put it up online until 3am today for an 8am class. Not cool. Other than that, it went well. I saw S (girl who ingested way too much caffeine to be sane) and she was fine and looked incredibly sleepy (apparently her parents have banned her from any caffeinated drinks, which means her reloadable gift card for a certain coffee place that’s at like every single street corner got taken away). Halfway through the class while my prof was on another tangent, she fell asleep. Go figure.
